흠..또 밀렸군..

4월 5일은 공부했슴니다 다만 블로그를 안 썼을 뿐..밀린거쓰긔...

 

오랜만에 필리피나 친구한테 연락와서, 맨날 쓰는 표현보단 좀 더 자연스러운 대화를 하고자 공부함. 목적이 명확한 영어공부 오랜만이라 재밌었다.

 

1. I applied for an internship at Cake.

I met this man, he told about this internship with the Chicago Fire. But then I found out that interns could dress up as a mascot. I applied to the internship. And I, and I received the internship. I went to Chicago for the summer. Um, so you're looking at like, the shortest mascot in Major League Soccer history. Then, I applied for an internship at Goldman Sachs. I applied and I got the internship. So then, I went to intern in New York.

 

나는 about을 what으로 듣고 with를 about으로 듣는다. 참 신기한 귀야.

이 예문이 유독 안 들렸던 것 같다.

지원서가 application이었던 건 기억나는데(고마워요 능률x카!) 지원하다가 뭐더라 register 말고 있었는데 하면서 찾아봄.

의외로 cake에서 검색으로 건질 수 있는 표현들이 꽤 있다. 쉽진 않지만.

intern을 동사로 쓰고 internship을 명사로 쓰며 internship은 주로 receive, get 등의 동사와 같이 쓴다는 사실을 알게 되었다. 한국어에서 인턴쉽을 보통 수료한다고 쓰는 이유가 그래서인가?

(라고 써 놓고 뭔가 이상해서 수료를 한자로 어떻게 쓰는지 봤는데 受가 아니라 修였다. 장려상을 수상하다 할 때 그 수가 아니라 수신제가치국평천하 할 때 그 수. 음..모르겠군...)

확실히 뉴스 앵커 발음이 훨씬 잘 들린다. 이걸 모국어에선 못 느끼고 외국어 뉴스에서 느끼게 되는구나.

모국어는 뭉개거나 대충 말해도 어느 정도 알아듣게 되니까 앵커의 전달력에 대해 크게 신경쓰지 않았는데, 이걸 들으면서 정확한 발음과 적절한 끊어읽기의 중요성이 좀 많이 와닿았다.

또, 명확한 전달을 위해서 그런 것 같은데 숫자를 끊어서 발음하는 게 인상적이었다. 132때는 사실 잘 못 들었고 540을 five-hundred-and-fourty라고 발음할 때 확실하게 들을 수 있었다.

 

현재 전 세계 (감염 환자)수가 총 75,000명을 넘어섰습니다.
